About the Course

Teachers will actively participate in online and face to face experiences to learn about implementing the Design Thinking model in their classroom.  Design thinking allows teachers to develop 21st Century skills in students and create authentic learning experiences that apply to the real world. This is a book study class that will require students secure a copy of LAUNCH: Using Design Thinking to Boost Creativity and Bring Out the Maker in Every Student by John Spencer and AJ Juliani.

This class is appropriate for an educator that would like to learn how to make learning more authentic for students and integrate Design Thinking into their classrooms.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Define the principles of Design Thinking
  • Develop Design Thinking lessons to improve problem solving skills and improve student engagement
  • Integrate Design Thinking into core curriculum
  • Apply the principles of Design Thinking to transform classroom culture and build creative confidence in students
