About the Course
Almost everything teachers do when working with students improves student achievement. But only a few things work when it comes time for students to demonstrate a year's worth of growth in literacy. This book study will explore how to match instructional approaches with specific phases of learning, understand how impactful your teaching is and what to do when your impact is not sufficient.
Required Text:
- Visible Learning for Literacy, Grades K-12: Implementing the Practices That Work Best to Accelerate Student Learning by Douglas Fisher and Nancy Frey and John Hattie
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Develop an understanding how your teaching is impacting students’ learning.
- Analyze and use different tools to make your classroom practices more precise.
- Identify where students are in their phases of learning to appropriately match the instructional strategies with the proper phases of learning.
