An Introduction to Students with a Hearing Loss

About the Course
Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of hearing loss, technology, service providers, and strategies for accessibility in general education classrooms. Specific applications will be made to practice, as teachers will adapt a lesson using the accommodations discussed. This course is appropriate for general education teachers at all levels. Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us; they will be asked to work on a planning template in a discipline of their choice.

Great course! I highly recommend you take it! The time the coursework takes is very appropriate for the 1 credit for the course. Kathryn is engaging in her videos each week and has so much knowledge. The journals direct you to write down what's on your mind (incredible what comes out with open-ended prompts like that). It helped me understand my students with hearing loss that I taught for the first time last year and were on my caseload. This helps special education and general education teachers (admin too! come learn with us!). There is a great book for the course that I enjoyed reading and discussing each week.

I absolutely loved this class! I learned so much that I didn't know, and I felt that I knew quite a bit. This class is short and packed with knowledge. The workload isn't overwhelming and is very realistic. I HIGHLY recommend this class for anyone that works in the education system. It will challenge your thinking about what is best for your d/Deaf students and those with hearing loss. TAKE THIS CLASS!
