Modeling the Way: A Deep Dive Into Your Own SEL Skills

About the Course
Social emotional learning is shown to be foundational when setting the stage for academic learning. SEL leads to stronger relationships, a sense of belonging, and a more supportive learning environment. As educators, social emotional skills can also have a positive impact on our own personal and professional success. In order to effectively teach SEL, we should reflect on our own skills, acknowledge where we’re at, and continue to expand these practices. Doing this allows us to best model and teach those skills to our students. This course will look at CASEL’s five core competencies, why they’re important to our practice, and learn ways to model them in the classroom.

This is a great class to take. Stacie is great and helps comprehend your own SEL learning and apply it to your classes. No book is required and the coursework is manageable in the 5 weeks and equivalent to the 2 credits earned. A self-paced course where all 5 weeks are available from the start I highly recommend this course!
