Strengthening Educators Leadership and Advocacy

About the Course
Teachers will actively participate in online and in-person learning to further develop their understanding of leadership and advocacy in their schools. The class will focus on leadership and advocacy skills as well as how to become an effective problem-solving collaborator. This course is appropriate for secondary and elementary teachers, counselors, and nurses. They will be asked to participate in group meetings and online discussions.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Students will be able to demonstrate having 1:1 conversation with colleagues, as well as administrators, and implement problem solving strategies to help take education into the future.
- Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the NEA transformative community schools model being implemented in the local school district.
- Students will be able to identify features of restorative practices and potential benefits to our students.
- Students will be able to analyze implicit bias and its impact in our classrooms.
- Students will be able to identify processes delinitaed in the collective bargaining agreement.
