Understanding Trauma
About the Course
This course is designed to help you understand what trauma is, how our students are experiencing it, and how to work with students who have experienced trauma. This introductory course will look at the definition of trauma and how our students may be exhibiting signs of trauma that are masked as other behavioral issues, and how we can make changes in our perceptions and actions to support all students. Note: This course has sensitive material that could be triggering
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Define and understand trauma.
- Understand the effects of trauma, and who are affected by it
- Develop trauma informed strategies to use with students.
- Apply strategies in everyday interactions with students.
