About the Course
In this five-week professional development course, educators will explore the exciting and rapidly-evolving world of Artificial Intelligence in education. Through hands-on experimentation, engaging discussions, and real-world case studies, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the potential benefits and challenges of integrating AI technologies into their classrooms.
By the end of the course, participants will have a toolkit of AI-related resources and strategies to immediately apply in their teaching practice, as well as a critical awareness of the ethical and policy implications of using AI in education. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a novice educator, this course will help you stay ahead of the curve and become a more effective and innovative teacher in the 21st century.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and explain AI-related terms and concepts, such as, machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, and apply that knowledge when evaluating the effectiveness of AI tools in education.
- Evaluate the potential uses of chatbots in education and assess their strengths and limitations for enhancing student learning and engagement.
- Identify AI tools and applications that can be used to personalize instruction and develop a plan to integrate those tools in classroom instruction.
- Evaluate and, if appropriate, implement AI-related tools that aid the process of lesson planning.
- Develop and implement a classroom policy for the ethical use of AI that considers issues such as data privacy, bias, and equity.
