About the Course
This course is designed to support K-12 educators working with multilingual learners and families who have recently arrived in the United States and are new to U.S. schools. Participants will gain an understanding of how engaging their community and various stakeholders play an essential role in the success of students in the classroom.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Respond to the social and emotional needs of multilingual newcomers.
- Build collegial relationships to support the integration of multilingual newcomers into a school community.
- Identify effective ways to incorporate families, advocates and stakeholders into the acculturation process.
- Implement instructional strategies to advance multilingual newcomers’ linguistic development and content learning.
