Supporting ELL Students in the Math and Science Classroom

About the Course
Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop their ability to support our ELL students. Teachers will explore instructional strategies, develop supports for classroom use and independently grow in content area language learning. Teachers will work on specific, usable applications for their content area.
This course is appropriate for grades K-12 teachers. Secondary teachers should be teaching either math, science, engineering or programming. Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us; they will be asked to work on an application in a discipline of their choice.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and use a variety of tools to support translation and/or modification of materials in content area classes.
- Develop content specific language to support language learners.
- Identify best practices for supporting ELL students.
- Create resources for your own classroom.

Lots of good technology tools introduced and time to explore them. I modified several assignments to make them more accessible for ELLs that I can use in my classroom now.
