Supporting Behavior through Applied Behavior Analysis Principles

About the Course
We all struggle with student behavior. With recent events, Covid, online teaching, collective and individual trauma, politics, etc., it seems that our students are coming into our classes increasingly unprepared to learn. Using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), we will explore practical steps for understanding and supporting the behavioral, social, and emotional needs of all students. ABA procedures and philosophies will help you identify the what, why, and how of behavior in order to provide a safe and inclusive classroom.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the purposes and functions of student behavior.
- Distinguish between reinforcers, consequences, and punishments as responses to behavior.
- Synthesize learning into a behavioral assessment and an action plan for current or past student(s).

Hands on application to improve behaviors by addressing the functions of the behavior. I like that this class helped me actually improve behaviors rather than give me a temporary fix.
