About the Course

More and more, teachers and parents ask “How can I teach kids perseverance? How can they grow grit?” Whether it is in academics, the arts, athletics, or any aspect of life, it can be hard to understand how to support determination and fortitude in today’s adolescents. This book study is designed for teachers and school staff K-12 - really anyone who interacts with kids - to better understand the science behind grit and ways to help foster grit in ourselves and others. This course will read Angela Duckworth’s book Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance. Participants will have weekly readings, create and provide feedback on classroom resources that support grit development, and have weekly reflections on their learning.
