Leadership Voices for Public Education and Teacher Professionalism

About the Course
Over the last 20 years, education reform has been a central focus in our state, driven by the desire to enhance student outcomes, narrow achievement gaps, and prepare students for the demands of the modern world. However, as educators, it is essential to understand the often hidden motives of those funding these efforts and those legislating policy and the negative impact they have had on students, educators, and the educational system as a whole.
Participants in this course will embark on an intellectual exploration of the problems that have resulted from education reform efforts over the past twenty years, shedding light on the motivations of some education funders and policy-makers. Through in-depth discussions, case studies, and critical analysis, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of the system forces that are attempting to undermine public education at various levels and be prepared to take local action to support public education.
