The Science of Reading in Action
About the Course
Educators will actively participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of the science of reading. This course will introduce and help educators understand new brain research on teaching students how to read. We will be doing a book study, researching, and creating hands-on activities with our students in our classrooms.
This course is appropriate for elementary, middle school, reading intervention teachers, instructional coaches and administrators.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify current brain research surrounding how the brain learns to read.
- Use a variety of strategies for phonological awareness, phonics, and sight words.
- Implement strategies to increase language comprehension.
