AVID: Support Educators and Students Need to Encourage College and Career Readiness and Success

About the Course
Teachers will be able to actively pivot their approach from instructor to facilitator and design learning opportunities that challenge students to think critically, ask questions, and collaborate to create solutions, using AVID strategies. The course will provide scaffolding for educators and students who need to be college and career-ready and successful.
This course is appropriate for secondary teachers. Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us; they will be asked to work on a planning template in a discipline of their choice.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design lessons for educators for students to learn about organization, study skills, communication, and self-advocacy.
- Use a variety of educational resources to support student learning such as critical thinking, writing, reading, and collaborating.
- Define the principles of backward design.
- Prepare students for college and career readiness.
- Implement building skills and developing behaviors that lead to success after high school.

Great for learning new (or refreshing up) on techniques to engage students so that they'll do the hard lifting while you facilitate their learning..
