About the Course

Teachers will create STEAM activities for their classroom using the Desmos math graphing calculator to create art! This course is appropriate for secondary teachers of art and math, and any teacher that wants to incorporate STEAM and cross-curricular activities into their lessons. DESMOS is a beautiful and user-friendly graphing tool that can be used to deepen an intuitive understanding of math and to experience the art in math and the math in art. Let’s make learning engaging and fun! You will leave this class with a cross-curricular STEAM activity you can use right away in your classes.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify why STEAM activities are vital for students.
  • Identify why cross-curricular activities are vital for students.
  • Operate the basic functions of the Desmos Graphing Calculator as it pertains to creating points, lines, shapes, and colors.
  • Create a work of art using Desmos graphing calculator on the provided Desmos Art Activity Builder.
  • Create a Desmos Art Activity builder that will guide your students in creating and submitting a work of art for your classroom, and potentially, for the Desmos Global Art contest in January of the following year.

This was a great class. I learned a lot about how Desmos works, and how to create art with it.
