About the Course
In "PBIS Power-Up: Mastering Positive Behavior in the Classroom," educators will learn effective strategies for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This course is designed to empower teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Participants will explore evidence-based practices, refine their behavior management techniques, and learn how to address individual student needs within the framework of PBIS. Through a combination of theory and practical applications, educators will be equipped to proactively manage classroom behavior, foster student engagement, and promote a culture of respect and accountability.
This course is appropriate for K-8 General education, special education teachers and gifted and talented teachers. Counselors, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us as PBIS is most effective when implemented school wide.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify key principles and components of PBIS, including proactive strategies, positive reinforcement techniques, and the importance of consistency in behavior management.
- Analyze effective implementation of PBIS strategies in various educational settings, such as classrooms, hallways, and common areas, to promote a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Define and explain the three Tier structure of PBIS and how it fits into the MTSS schoolwide practice.
- Apply PBIS principles to thoughtfully reflect on the current school setting behavior matrix and refine ideas to improve student behavior.
- Advocate for PBIS in school settings as a means to support equity and diversity for all students.
