About the Course

“The kids are the least of our worries” - Dr. Jody Carrington.

Join Dr. Jody Carrington, myself, and fellow teachers as we dive into the “powerful” work we do every single day – teach students. The essence of this book is centered around the reminder that teachers need to be okay first in order to be the best teachers they can be for their students. The students need those teachers who are struggling now more than ever. We are teaching in some of the most difficult times in educational history. Not only students but teachers are more disconnected than ever before. Dr. Jody Carrington will take you on a journey through reconnection and regulation with your students and yourself.

This course is for those who need a reminder that the work they are doing is important and it matters. You are changing lives. You are making a difference. This course will allow you to reflect deeply on your teaching practices, analyze emotional regulation, strengthen your relationship-building with students, develop and utilize strategies to get you through the tough times, remember your WHY, and help you navigate some of the toughest times we are facing as teachers. It will help you reconnect with yourself as a professional and with your students. This course will touch on the hard conversations of trauma and grief.

Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop strategies to navigate the difficult times in education and gain a deeper understanding of regulation and reconnection as it pertains to students these days as well as develop strategies to help themselves during such difficult times in education. Teachers will engage in thorough reflection and discourse with other teachers.

This course is appropriate for any who serve students and want to develop strategies that will help them through these most difficult times as teachers.

Please note that Dr. Jody Carrington uses some colorful language to depict the daily struggles we deal with as teachers.

This was a very powerful book! It should be read by every educator regardless of the number of years you have been teaching. You will learn about building relationships and making connections in a whole new light. I recommend the audio book because the author is quite funny.
