About the Course

This is a dynamic 6-week professional development course designed for educators seeking to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills to integrate climate change education seamlessly into diverse content areas and grade levels. In this course, participants will explore the multifaceted dimensions of climate change and develop strategies to foster climate literacy among their students. Participants will engage in interactive discussions, collaborate on lesson planning, and receive constructive feedback from instructors and peers. By the end of the program, teachers will be equipped with the knowledge, resources, and pedagogical skills to effectively infuse climate change literacy into their teaching practices, preparing students to be informed global citizens who understand and address the challenges of our changing world. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Students will articulate the fundamental scientific principles of climate change and the impact of human activities on the climate system.
  • Students will design comprehensive and interdisciplinary lesson plans that seamlessly integrate climate change concepts into their respective subject areas, demonstrating the ability to adapt content to various grade levels and subjects.
  • Students will develop strategies to foster a schoolwide climate literacy culture that focuses on hope, demonstrating an understanding of how to involve students, staff, and the broader community in sustainable initiatives and climate awareness campaigns.
