About the Course

In this 8-week professional development course, educators will explore their passions through the Genius Hour approach, setting and pursuing SMART goals for individual projects. Participants will choose their own texts to read, tailoring the experience to their professional development journey and what they are passionate in learning more about. Through weekly discussions, project work, and continuous self-assessment and reflection, educators will develop plans and create resources to enhance their classrooms or roles. This course is appropriate for all K-12 educators.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Establish specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals for their Genius Hour projects and continuously assess their progress throughout the course.
  • Design and execute weekly projects that align with their professional passions and goals, integrating innovative practices into their teaching.
  • Participate in weekly discussions and reflections related to their independent reading books, connecting their insights to their Genius Hour projects and overall professional development.
  • Complete a reflection journal of their work and next steps on how their chosen text will enhance their role.
