About the Course

In this 6-week course, teachers will participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of gamifying lessons in the classroom grades K-12. Specific applications will be made to practice, as teachers will read and discuss reading assignments from the book Level Up Your Classroom and use their classroom as their “lab.” Teachers will apply new game strategies into their classrooms and discuss their findings through online discussions and an end of unit slideshow.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Experiment with and create a variety of gamified lesson ideas with their students.
  • Identify state standards in relation to the subject and how gamified lessons are helpful to increase engagement.
  • Identify and understand the components of game making and how to incorporate them into their classrooms or educational environments.
  • Identify and understand how gamified lessons support academics, social skills, and behavior issues.
