About the Course

“Nonfiction intrudes into our world and purports to tell the truth. To evaluate that truth , we need students to be sophisticated, skillful, and savvy readers.” Teachers will actively participate in online learning as they read the book, Reading Nonfiction, Notice and Note by Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst. Teachers will learn about strategies and techniques to help their students be successful readers of nonfiction text. These strategies can be used in all content areas and will help students to research and write nonfiction in ways that challenge them and their readers.
