Minds of All Kinds: Part 2 - Implications & Strategies for Classrooms Everywhere

About the Course
Minds of All Kinds: Part 2 is an immersive course designed to deepen educators' understanding of neurodiversity, with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participants will connect through collaborative activities, gain insights into hallmark characteristics of ASD, and engage in a detailed case study of a selected student. The curriculum includes multimedia resources, interactive discussions, and practical assignments to explore communication strategies, sensory integration, executive functioning, and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). By the course's end, participants will create a comprehensive Resource Hub, reflecting on their learning and its application in educational settings.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the term neurodiversity
- Identify key characteristics of those with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Evaluate existing models of teaching and learning against a new/more developed understanding of the Autistic neurotype
- Apply learning about neurodivergent thinking to classroom practice
- Implement tools, strategies, routines, etc that reflect the specific needs of Autistic learners
- Develop a Resource Hub based on the content of the class
