About the Course

What can we learn from well known teachers, whether they are fictional or the real deal?  In this class you will further your own teaching practices by exploring and observing the teaching methods, philosophies and strategies of some of our favorites!  From Dangerous Minds to Stand and Deliver, from Ron Clark to Bill Nye the Science Guy you will have the opportunity to look at many popular movie teachers and real-life educators and see what makes them so inspirational!

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explore the concepts presented in various education related resources (all related to well-known educators) and apply those concepts to classroom relationships, practices and management.
  • Analyze a variety of teaching methods used in different educational settings, thus increasing their own repertoire of methods.
  • Distinguish between different learning theories and teaching techniques
  • Analyze, synthesize, reflect, and respond to case studies and questions directly related to different teaching strategies, individualized instruction and hands-on vs. lecture teaching
