From Sounds to Sentences: Exploring the Structures of Language

About the Course
Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of the five basic components of language and how humans acquire language. This course offers an in-depth exploration of the five fundamental language structures: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Specific applications will be made to practice, as teachers take their learning into their classrooms.
Through readings, discussions, and application of practice, teachers will develop a deeper appreciation for the complexity of language. This course is appropriate for educators who are linguistic enthusiasts.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify own belief of language acquisition.
- Develop content specific language to support language learners.
- Implement learning strategies to best support a variety of learners.
- Identify the importance of having a strong understanding of the language structures.
