About the Course

In this book study, educators will deepen their understanding of the seven ways K-3 teachers can transform their reading instruction, based on reliable Science of Reading research. Each chapter focuses on a critical area of foundational reading.  Educators will learn “do-tomorrow” strategies, routines, and lessons to help students acquire essential skills and transfer them to their reading.

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: 

  • Identify the seven critical areas of foundational reading 
  • Develop a clear explanation of each move and the research to support it
  • Implement immediate strategies proven to improve student reading
  • Analyze their own instruction to decipher if it meets the research 
  • Summarize key takeaways from each essential area of primary reading
