Reviews

Laura Seward
To be perfectly honest, I signed up for this class rather quickly, enticed by the name and description with a promise of learning some positive things about ADHD. I did not look too deeply into the book or authors until the class started, and when I did I was shocked. I had seen videos from the Holderness family on social media, and I didn't like them. I find their content to come from a place of flaunting their privilege, and quickly scroll past if I happen to come across them. So I didn't expect to like the book, but I did! I found so much benefit from hearing directly not only from a person who struggles with ADHD, Penn, but also hearing from his wife Kim's perspective of living with someone with ADHD and learning how to help them without smothering them. Before this book and class, I saw ADHD as a bunch of problems to solve, but now I see there are potential benefits to the symptoms if we as teachers, people with ADHD, and families learn to work together and communicate. Easier said than done, for sure, but a good goal to work toward. Awesome book, awesome class to take our thinking beyond the book, and awesome choices for projects!
