Fostering Regulation: Practical Strategies for a Balanced Classroom

About the Course
Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of the different types of regulation and develop strategies for how to set up their classroom to support individuals with different regulation needs. Specific applications will be made to practice, as teachers will create a classroom design demonstrating strategies they have learned.
This course is appropriate for teachers of any grade level. Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us; they will be asked to apply their knowledge to their environmental set up as well.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and describe differences between cognitive, emotional and sensory regulation and the impact trauma has in these areas.
- Recognize signs of dysregulation in the classroom.
- Design a classroom that supports a variety of regulation needs.
- Evaluate and adjust classroom practices to support regulation needs.

Fostering Regulation shows educators how to create a safe and nurturing environment for children to thrive in! It is also a wonderful way to support our students and their families in becoming self-aware and how to regulate cognive, emotional, and sensory dysregulation.
