About the Course

In this online course, students will participate in research, reflection, and activities to gain a stronger understanding on how to apply cross-curricular strategies, such as using primary sources in connection with research to enhance calendar time.  Students will understand how to broaden perspectives while being aware of diverse needs and perspectives.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Target specific skills during classroom calendar time.
  • Create deeper connections to historic individuals through calendar studies including math connections and sequencing.
  • Identify the necessary resources to locate diverse books.
  • Understand how to implement primary sources within picture book studies to enhance comprehension.
  • Implement visual thinking strategies to go deeper with picture book and primary source inquiry.
