High Leverage Practices for Students with Disabilities

About the Course
This is an updated and extended edition of my original course, High Leverage Practices in Special Education. The course has been refreshed based on the publishing of the 2nd edition (2024) of the renamed book, High Leverage Practice for Students with Disabilities.
In this course, explore 22 high-leverage practices developed and published by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), in partnership with the Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability and Reform (CEEDAR). These HLP’s are intended to address the most critical practices that every K-12 educator should utilize. The selected practices are used frequently in classrooms and have been shown to improve student outcomes if successfully implemented. Participants will have an opportunity to understand the practices, dig into the research and rationale, and see videos of teachers in action modeling the components of these research based practices. Teachers will have opportunities to collaborate with one another through discussion boards and complete weekly assignments designed to develop their understanding and identify implementation strategies.
