About the Course

Teaching can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with stress and emotional demands. Cultivating Teacher Wellness Through Art is a eight-week course designed to help educators use art as a tool for self-care, mindfulness, and stress relief. Participants will explore a variety of artistic practices, including visual journaling, movement, music, and mindful observation, to enhance their well-being. No prior art experience is necessary! By the end of the course, educators will have a personalized creative wellness plan to sustain their mental and emotional health throughout the school year.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how creative expression supports emotional regulation, reduces stress, and enhances mindfulness.
  • Identify personal creative practices that contribute to self-care and mental wellness.
  • Explore and implement various art-based self-care techniques, such as visual journaling, movement-based creativity, and nature-inspired art.
  • Establish a sustainable creative practice that fosters well-being beyond the course.

This class was great to take in the summer. She gave choices for assignments- I did not feel pressure to be "artsy". Practiced and got ideas for different wellness and creativity activities. I enjoyed the format, sharing activities with peers, and the ideas that transpired!

I highly recommend the class Cultivating Teacher Wellness Through Art to every teacher. This class was truly amazing and had a meaningful impact on me. It helped me discover new ways to use art as a tool for mindfulness, stress relief, and overall well-being rather than simply creating something for fun. As educators, we spend so much of our time caring for others that we often forget to care for ourselves. This course provided practical strategies to slow down, reflect, and embrace creativity as a consistent wellness practice. I am grateful for everything I learned and encourage any teacher looking to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being to take this class. It is an experience that can positively impact both your personal life and your classroom.
