About the Course

In this course, we will explore strategies for integrating personal learning for students into our teaching practices. We will focus on creating meaningful learning and student-centered experiences and integrate self-assessment with new and modern educational theories. This course is designed to help students reach their full potential, achieve their personal learning goals, and build resilience. Educators will be able to foster an environment in which students will feel empowered to take ownership of their learning while exploring how they learn best and creating an environment where each student can thrive. 

This course is perfect for educators looking to enhance their professional growth and improve their teaching practices. 

This course is designed for elementary and secondary educators. Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us; they will be asked to work on a planning template in a discipline of their choice.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand Personal Learning: Students will be able to define personal learning and identify its role in fostering student-centered teaching practices that cater to individual learning styles and needs.
  • Apply Educational Theories: Learners will be able to integrate modern educational theories into their teaching practices, specifically focusing on how these theories support self-assessment and student growth.
  • Develop Student-Centered Strategies: Students will create and implement teaching strategies that promote student ownership of learning, ensuring that each student can take an active role in their educational journey.
  • Implement Effective Teaching Strategies: Learners will be able to apply evidence-based strategies for creating meaningful and engaging learning experiences that align with students' personal goals and strengths.
