About the Course

In this eight week book study, we will learn behavior modification strategies to implement in the classroom to decrease maladaptive behaviors and increase desired behaviors, as detailed in the text Behavior Breakthrough:Twelve Skills To Transform Behavior At Home And In The Classroom, written by Bailey Payne, BCBA and Jen Lill Brown.

Required Text:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify how to collect and analyze behavioral data.
  • Implement strategies to decrease maladaptive behaviors.
  • Define the principles of behavior modification.
  • Implement behavior modification strategies; first/then contingency, directed choices, descriptive praise, antecedent expectations.
  • Distinguish between a reinforcer and a bribe.
  • Identify antecedents to behavior.
  • Implement strategies on how to address denials.
