About the Course
Back to Basics in the Classroom is dedicated to mastering the fundamental skills and concepts, with a focus on hands-on learning and practical applications. This course offers a seamless integration of CLDE, SEL, IEP, and 504 strategies, blending traditional teaching methods with modern techniques. The goal is to help students regain confidence in core subjects by creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment. Teachers will be equipped with tools to personalize instruction, ensuring every student can grasp key concepts at their own pace and succeed in their learning journey.
This course is designed for elementary and secondary educators. Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us; they will be asked to work on a planning template in a discipline of their choice.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Mastering fundamental skills: Teachers will be able to use effective strategies to implement in their teaching so their lessons are effective, organized, and student-centered. Focusing on the core competencies that all educators should master to create an impactful and supportive learning environment.
- Demonstrate effective instructional strategies by integrating CLDE (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education), SEL (Social-Emotional Learning), IEP (Individualized Education Program), and 504 accommodations to support diverse student needs.
- Develop and implement hands-on learning activities that reinforce foundational skills in core subjects, promoting engagement and practical application of concepts, using AI and technology tools to meet students where they are at and encourage growth.
- Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that fosters student confidence, encourages collaboration, and supports personalized learning paths.
- Utilize a variety of traditional and modern teaching techniques to adapt instruction based on individual student learning styles and needs.
- Apply differentiation strategies to personalize instruction, ensuring that multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and those requiring additional support can succeed at their own pace.
