About the Course
This course empowers K–12 educators in all content areas to integrate art and creativity into their teaching. Participants will explore how visual, performing, and design-based arts can deepen engagement, support higher-order thinking, and make learning more accessible to all students. Through weekly readings, discussions, and practical 'Small Move, Big Gain' classroom experiments, educators will learn to create standards-aligned, art-integrated lessons and reflect on how creativity can transform teaching and learning.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design art-integrated learning experiences that enhance engagement and comprehension in their content area.
- Implement small creative strategies ('Small Moves, Big Gains') to promote student curiosity, collaboration, and reflection.
- Analyze how art supports diverse learners through universal design and multimodal instruction.
- Develop an assessment or reflection tool that measures creativity and student growth.
- Construct a standards-aligned lesson or mini-unit demonstrating meaningful integration of art within their curriculum.
