The Power of Mattering: Turning Connection into Action
About the Course
This course explores the transformative concept of "mattering" as presented in Zach Mercurio’s The Power of Mattering book. Designed for educators, this course examines how fostering a culture of significance can increase student engagement, motivation, and well-being. Participants will investigate the science behind mattering, reflect on their own practices and beliefs, and develop actionable strategies to ensure that every student—and every teacher—feels seen, valued, and essential. Through discussion, reflection, and meaningful assignments, educators will learn how to embed the principles of belonging into classroom environments, school communities, and leadership practices.
