About the Course

Do you consider artificial intelligence (AI) to be more of a rival or a partner in teaching and learning? This engaging and hands-on 3-credit course is designed to develop within you a basic foundation in AI literacy and integration in your classrooms and teams, encouraging its ethical use as a learning enhancement tool and lesson plan co-designer.

This course is appropriate for all educators and education professionals. Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators are invited to join us.

Required Text:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Develop a basic understanding of how AI and LLMs work within the context of education.
  • Navigate the ethical use of AI in education.
  • Create prompts that enhance teaching and learning.
  • Design lessons that reduce cheating  and plagiarism.
  • Create instant accommodations for student interventions.
  • Determine the role AI will play in their lesson planning and instruction using current best practices.

Riana Bichler, MA, Secondary Education, Math, is a high school mathematics instructor with over 20 years of experience in Mesa County, CO, and a Wings Certified facilitator for CEA COpilot.

Riana is passionate about developing agency in her high school students and giving voice to the professional development needs of Colorado educators. In her free time, Riana enjoys performing vocally and spending time with family.
