About the Course

This professional development course explores the design of curriculum that centers equity, representation, and inclusion. Educators will critically examine curriculum through lenses of race, ethnicity, culture, identity, power, and justice while applying culturally responsive and sustaining practices to curriculum development. Participants will design instructional materials that reflect diverse perspectives and promote belonging and academic success for all learners. Appropriate for educators at every grade level and content area.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain the educational value of teaching multiple perspectives.
  • Analyze curriculum for representation, bias, and missing voices.
  • Apply culturally responsive and inclusive instructional practices.
  • Select and evaluate diverse instructional resources.
  • Facilitate respectful classroom discussions around complex issues.
  • Develop lessons that encourage critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning.
  • Design assessments that allow students to examine multiple viewpoints.
