Kara Myers

Kara Myers belongs to the Westminster Education Association and is a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education Specialist for Westminster Public Schools. Kara has 14 years of teaching experience and has an expertise in working with middle school students.  Kara understands the importance of keeping up with best practices to ensure learner engagement and academic growth for her students. She believes that students from every background and all walks of life should have equal opportunities at a quality education. Kara stands together with the WEA to support quality learning conditions in the classroom and to advocate for better educational opportunities for students across the state of Colorado. She believes there are power in numbers, and when we have a large number of teachers standing together, our voices are heard. 

Kara is well-versed in instruction, differentiation, and assessment for English language learners, providing instructional support for teachers, RTI, using Kagan structures in the classroom, co-teaching, and teaching in a Competency Based System. Kara has held a variety of leadership positions in her school and serves on District level task forces. Kara holds a BA in Secondary Education and English Literature from Indiana University. She graduated with honors from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a MA in Social, Cultural, and Bilingual Foundations.
