Happy Teachers Change the World: A Guide for Cultivating Mindfulness in Education

About the Course
Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of self care and mindfulness. Through hands-on activities, reflections, readings, and journals, we will gain strategies to better balance our personal and professional lives, coach our students to develop mindfulness practices, and increase our ability to provide care for ourselves and others.
This course is appropriate for all educational professionals including: K-12 classroom teachers, Teacher librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators.
Required Text:
- Happy Teachers Change the World A Guide for Integrating Mindfulness in Education by Thich Nhat Hanh and Katherine Weare
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the 8 core practices of mindfulness.
- Implement mindfulness strategies in both an academic and personal setting.
- Analyze current mindfulness practices and plan for ways to implement these practices in a professional setting.
- Cultivate mindfulness in students through explicit planning and teaching.
