About the Course

According to Pasi Sahlsberg in his book Finnish Lessons 2.0 “in order to fix the crisis in education today, specifically the United States, it is time to learn from an educational system that has taken the world by surprise.” This book study will explore the educational system of Finland and study how it has been ranked number three in student success world-wide. A focus will be on the multiple reasons behind the success of Finnish education and how these could benefit the United States.

I thought this book was very interesting. It has a lot of information - but the major take aways are clear. Hopefully the US can learn from the Finnish education system and implement some of their strategies that would fit here.

I loved this course. It opened my mind to the possibilities, borrowed from the Finns, to incorporate into my daily teaching right here in Colorado.
Susan Bowditch
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Pasi Sahlberg’s book and the class posts. Extremely helpful!! Thank you!!
