Teachers These Days: Stories and Strategies for Reconnection
About the Course
The students we teach today are not the same students we taught ten years ago, five years ago, or even three years ago! Dr. Jody Carrington and Laurie McIntosh will take you on a journey through reconnection as it relates to the science of human development and theory. They will share stories from teachers walking the walk day in and day out.
This course is for those who need a reminder that the work they are doing is powerful. It is important and it is shaping lives. This course will allow you to reflect deeply on your teaching practices, analyze misconceptions, delve into social-emotional learning, utilize strategies, and help you navigate some of the toughest times we are facing as teachers. It will help you reconnect with yourself as a professional and with your students. This course will touch on the hard conversations of trauma, grief, racism, violence, and loss.
Teachers will actively participate in online learning to further develop their understanding of reconnection as it pertains to students these days and their teaching practices. Teachers will engage in thorough reflection and discourse with other teachers.
