Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics

About the Course
In this 8-week book study course we will be discovering the magic of "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, Grades K-12" by Peter Liljedahl. Participants will explore the 14 teaching practices aimed at fostering a thinking-centered approach to mathematics instruction. Through reading, reflection, discussions, and assignments, participants will gain insights and practical strategies to enhance their teaching practices and create a classroom environment that promotes student engagement, problem-solving skills, and mathematical thinking. This course is appropriate for all K-12 math teachers. Other content areas are welcome to join, but a majority of the resources are math related.

If you are a math teacher, I highly encourage this course. The ideas in the book and the reflections you will do throughout the course will change your teaching. It would be valuable to take in the spring or summer as you’d likely want to start your school year with a Thinking Classroom.
